Perlage
A cel-shaded bubble of cyan light rising out of a pool of it on deep navy, trailing droplets. Bring your cursor to rest and a bubble is shot out of it, the way you were going.
Perlage
Built to one reference and fitted to it. Every outline (the bubble, its highlight, each of the seven droplets) was traced off it as a radius against angle and kept as a few harmonics, and the light was solved against its pixels: a saturated cyan body, a white highlight with a wavy lower edge and a paler halo round it, a thin rim, and a glow that is pale on the side the light comes from and deep blue on the other. The smaller a droplet, the less deep its colour runs, so the small ones read bluer.
Your cursor is the spring. Moving it does nothing; bring it to rest and a bubble swells out of it and is shot forward, the way you were going. Then buoyancy takes over: it slows, bends upward and climbs, with droplets spurting from the same spot and following its path, until it pops. Shot downward, it arcs back up. Move faster and the shot carries further; sweep further and the bubble comes out larger. On a touch screen, tap or flick.
Left alone, bubbles rise from the pool on a loop. With reduced motion you get the still frame, which is the reference.
